For over 10 years now, ATHENA has been developing and manufacturing cylinder kits for 2- and 4-stroke off-road motorcycles. In collaboration with the worlds top motocross racing teams, ATHENA has now designed a new line of racing pistons
HIGH PERFORMANCE.
ATHENA offers a wide selection of 2-stroke and 4-stroke racing forged and cast pistons, which are specifically tailored to all off-road motorcycles (MX, enduro, and ATV). They are manufactured according to the latest technological standards and the highest industrial requirements. The unique Smart Can packaging, consisting of a resealable metal can, can either be used as a storage container or recycled.
All ATHENA cast and forged pistons are made of an aluminum alloy with a perfectly balanced composition of nickel, copper, and silicon. By using the finest raw materials in combination with the most advanced design and manufacturing methods, ATHENA high-performance pistons offer an exceptionally light weight while maintaining high structural integrity. This results in improved engine performance and a longer engine lifespan.

Cast and Forged Pistons
Lightweight Cast Piston
ATHENA lightweight cast pistons weigh less than the original pistons. They feature tight manufacturing tolerances, special low-friction piston rings, and high durability. They are the top choice for high-revving 2-stroke engines with small displacementsin other words, wherever weight plays a key role.
Forged Pistons
ATHENAs HIGH PERFORMANCE forged pistons were developed for engines with larger displacements as well as for engines with smaller displacements and higher compression ratios. They are the top choice wherever very tight tolerances, minimal friction losses, and controlled material expansion are required.

Weight-reduction and lubrication bores These bores, which are produced either by milling or casting (in the case of lightweight cast pistons), reduce friction between the cylinder and the piston. |

Lubrication Bores Compared to the original OEM pistons, the ATHENA HIGH PERFORMANCE lightweight cast and forged pistons each feature additional oil holes in the piston crown. These holes improve lubrication and cooling of both the piston and the piston pin. |

Surface treatment Depending on the model, ATHENA HIGH PERFORMANCE pistons undergo special surface treatments. These range from tin plating to Teflon (PTFE) coating and result in reduced friction losses, better sealing, and a shorter break-in period. |
